The Chevrolet Malibu first debuted in 1964 as a powerfully stylish 2 door sedan. This was the well known identity of the Chevy Malibu until 1983, a muscle car that was initially introduced as the top of the line Chevelle. Once a proud gas guzzling performance car, the Malibu would now compete in the family sedan market. The 2007 Chevrolet Malibu is available in four trim levels and as a 4 door sedan or the 5 door hatchback, known as the Malibu Maxx. 3 engine choices, front wheel drive and a variety of safety and security features made the Malibu a popular choice amongst young families and satisfied those who were not interested in the ever growing SUV type vehicle. Competitive pricing and convenient features such as the OnStar navigation system helped to make the 2007 Malibu a popular choice amongst those seeking a safety conscious and comfortable mid-sized sedan. An all new Malibu is expected for 2008, though details at this point are vague. It is very feasible to imagine the Malibu will once again change with the times and provide the auto buying public with what is necessary in this day and age.
