Chevrolet Malibu

The Chevrolet Malibu first debuted in 1964 as a powerfully stylish 2 door sedan. This was the well known identity of the Chevy Malibu until 1983, a muscle car that was initially introduced as the top of the line Chevelle. The Malibu's of this generation were built during a time period when a younger generation of drivers and collectors were enthralled with the cosmetic details and robust power of the muscle car era and the Malibu itself. The earlier generations of Malibu's are still found revving their engines and proudly displayed at car shows and exhibits across the country. The Chevrolet Malibu name was revived in 1997 as a front wheel drive mid sized family sedan. Much more attractive to cost conscious consumers who needed more power than a 4 cylinder could deliver and more room than can be found in compact cars, the rebirth of the Malibu was a clear cut example of the changes in society and economics. Once a proud gas guzzling performance car, the Malibu would now compete in the family sedan market. The 2007 Chevrolet Malibu is available in four trim levels and as a 4 door sedan or the 5 door hatchback, known as the Malibu Maxx. 3 engine choices, front wheel drive and a variety of safety and security features made the Malibu a popular choice amongst young families and satisfied those who were not interested in the ever growing SUV type vehicle. Competitive pricing and convenient features such as the OnStar navigation system helped to make the 2007 Malibu a popular choice amongst those seeking a safety conscious and comfortable mid-sized sedan. An all new Malibu is expected for 2008, though details at this point are vague. It is very feasible to imagine the Malibu will once again change with the times and provide the auto buying public with what is necessary in this day and age.
