Toyota Highlander Hybrid

The very first seven passenger hybrid SUV that was manufactured and produced for distribution within the automotive industry was the 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The vehicle's platform was identical to the mid size SUV Toyota Highlander lineup that debuted in 2001, but the Highlander Hybrid was capable of almost double the gas mileage of the other 2006 models that were equipped with traditional gasoline powered engines. Both the base model and the more upscale Limited models were available in either four wheel drive or two wheel drive, and both were powered by a 3.3 liter V6 engine in conjunction with a high speed electric motor. Performance did not deteriorate in any way in comparison to the rest of the Highlander lineup with the change in power source. The Highlander Hybrid's high torque electric motor produced 268 horsepower and the vehicle was capable of towing up to 3500 lbs. For the 2007 model year, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid returned with few significant changes, but is still more than capable of comfortably accommodating the midsize SUV needs of the average family. Most families-and the public in general-no longer participate in a debate over whether or not hybrid technology is better for the environment; it is pretty obvious that it is. However, the technology is still in its relatively early phases and perfecting the achievement of the primary objectives of the hybrid engine in the automotive world-increased fuel efficiency and less pollution-has received stronger focus than cost cutting analysis. This is why those who decide to purchase a Toyota Highlander Hybrid will pay a substantial amount more at the dealership, but they will also save money on fuel each and every time they drive-and they'll be doing a great deal to help the environment, and the future of their families, as they do so.
