



The BMW 5 series wagon made its debut in 1992 as a touring version and it was numbered the 525i. The new car was powered by a 3.5 liter engine. The new vehicle had a roof that opened separately for the driver and the passengers. The 525i was replaced by the 540i wagon that was powered by a V8 engine with five automatic gears. The wagon got a brand new front face in 1995 and a gear system with six manual gears was added to the model. In 1998, the second generation BMW wagon made its debut after a gap of two years. It came in two versions, one that derived its power from an engine having six cylinders or one that was powered by a V8 engine. The wagon was now called a sports wagon. In 2001, the wagon became available in three versions which were numbered the 530i which derived its power from a 3.0 Liter engine, 525i which was powered by a 2.5 liter engine and the 540i. In 2002, the station wagons got a CD player and seats that could be moved by the touch of a button.
In 2004, the third generation 5 Series wagon made its debut. The new wagon came in three versions. The first two were numbered the 525i and 530i were powered by a six cylinder engine and a new model numbered the 545i which had a 4.4 Liter engine. The new sedan had a system that helped the driver while driving called the iDrive. All the models can be powered by either a gear system with a Steptronic gear system that can be manually operated or an automatic gear system.
In 2007, the wagon comes in only one version that is numbered the 530xi. The model derives its power from a 3.0 Liter engine that has six cylinders. It is available with an all-wheel drive configuration called the xDrive. The BMW 5 series wagon is equipped with a stereo system having a CD player, windows that can be opened or closed with the touch of a button, mirrors that are heated and wipers that start moving once rain is in the air.
